Depending on the specific goals of each project and according to the mission types (gliders, profiling floats) the key variables to be measured are selected.

The rather modular character of payloads, especially for gliders, allow to design the autonomous platforms with the sensor configurations best responding to the scientific requirements. At the moment, the OAO team particularly focuses on the following biogeochemical and optical variables :
